Industry Veteran Dr. Rick Stover Joins Desalitech to Launch Closed-Circuit DesalinationTM Technology

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL -- Desalitech, a leader in the next generation of reverse osmosis desalination, announced today that Richard L. Stover, Ph.D. has joined the company as Executive Vice President. Prior to Desalitech, Dr. Stover was Chief Technical Officer and SVP of Marketing for Energy Recovery, Inc. There he was responsible for technical and commercial development of the ERITM Pressure Exchanger energy recovery device and helped lead the company’s successful IPO. He also previously served as Vice President of Oasys Water where he developed forward osmosis systems. At Desalitech, Dr. Stover will lead the company’s business development, product launch and commercialization efforts.

Desalitech’s patented Closed-Circuit DesalinationTM (CCDTM) technology reduces desalination costs by more than 20%. With its proprietary hydrostatic process at the core of a water treatment system, CCD technology lowers the average pressure required for reverse osmosis (RO) and provides other advantages, achieving significant operating cost and capital cost savings. Its performance is being proven in several currently operating commercial installations using the same membranes and pumps as in conventional RO, but configured in a new way. The CCD process recycles concentrate until a desired recovery level is achieved, replacing brine with fresh feed without disrupting continuous permeate production and with practically no energy loss. Readily scalable to micro- and mega-sized systems, CCD technology represents a substantial breakthrough in affordable desalination.Reverse osmosis filters are yet another form of filtration that can be used in homes to keep water clean. Reverse osmosis will remove unwanted tastes and odors from municipal water as well as remove contaminants. Reverse osmosis is a technique that has been used for years. The only drawback to reverse osmosis is that is uses a lot of water. In fact, they recover only 5 to 15 percent of the water entering the system. To overcome this, it is best to find the most economical filtration system for your home.About Frost & Sullivan Frost & Sullivan, the Growth Partnership Company, enables clients to accelerate growth and achieve best-in-class positions in growth, innovation and leadership. Desalitech is developing and commercializing proprietary desalination technologies to address the growing global water crisis. Closed Circuit Desalination (CCDTM) technology was invented and first demonstrated by Desalitech founder Professor Avi Efraty. It is a desalination platform that uses conventional reverse osmosis equipment in a novel configuration that dramatically reduces the cost of clean water production from seawater, brackish water, surface and ground water, and industrial water sources.
